How do I take care of my pipe?

All pipes get dirty. It’s a simple fact of life. What makes the Bala pipe so unique is that it can split apart, allowing easy access to every surface for a throrough clean. This includes the entire length of the air channel. No long, narrow tubes that you have to shove things into... just to end up with a not-so-clean pipe. You can quickly restore your hand pipe to a like-new state anytime, even many years from now. 

We designed the Bala with the underlying philosophy that you won’t need fancy equipment or tools to maintain your pipe. So you can have an awesome experience every time you use it. The simpler, the better. Cleaning your Bala pocket pipe is easy. This may be required after a few sessions. Never wash a pipe in the dishwasher. Hand wash only using warm water and soap or alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol works great and can be found in any pharmacy. To clean the small holes in the bowl, use a pointy, round toothpick, also available anywhere. Once the permanent “screen” is cleared, you can also blow out remaining residue. This is surprisingly satisfying. The Bala was specifically designed to never require disposable screens, which seem to never be around when you need them. 

Never use abrasive objects such as metal utensils or pads on the surface of the pipe. 

The disposable filters are 100% optional but recommended for the cleanest, smoothest smoke possible. They should be replaced every few sessions. They are fully biodegradable.

Does the pipe get hot? 

No. The heat from the bowl during normal use will not transfer to the full metal body. In fact, the aluminum has excellent thermal conductivity properties which will draw the heat from the smoke and cool it as it passes through the winding air channel.

Does the pipe come in different colors?

For now the pipe is available in black only. Check back later or drop us a line if you would like to see other color variants in the future. 

Do I need filters?

It’s entirely up to you if you want to filter your smoke. The Bala works great with and without filters. It’s a personal choice.
